Nudging: Challenge a negative thought…and flip it!
This Nudge was inspired by transformational coach Kelly Mishell, who has written a couple of guest posts for us (read them here and here). It’s a technique she taught me a few years ago when I was up against a huge deadline and feeling all my fears. Here’s how it works:
- Be aware of my “stinkin’ thinkin’.” Catch myself and take note of what I’m saying.
- Come up with an affirmation that is the exact opposite and use it as a daily mantra so that it replaces the original negative thought.
An example might be “I’m so fat” (which I’ll admit comes up far too often when I check myself out in a mirror). I might flip this to “Hello, Gorgeous! You are beautiful today, inside and out.”
