Nudged: Use the good stuff
If you’ve been Nudging with me for a while, you know this one is a repeat. Why? Because I still don’t do this consistently without reminders.
So, here we go again: Break out the good silver/jewelry/candles/undies and—and this is the key—enjoy it!
What Happened: All week long, I noticed what I was doing and consciously made decisions in the moment. For example, I scrunched up my face when I looked at the cheap hand soap on the kitchen counter, till I remembered a bottle I’d splurged on and tucked in the cabinet. Out it came!
I rubbed lavender lotion—a gift from last Christmas—on my hands and arms one morning, then remembered the Nudge and treated my whole body to a mini massage.
My newest jeans are stylish and in great condition, and they fit and flatter. (Thank you, Stitch Fix!) Buh-bye, yoga pants! Even my fav cotton PJs got a pick-me-up when I pulled them from the laundry basket and opted to iron them for maximum comfort. I almost skipped this because “I don’t have time, and I’ll have to make an extra effort to lug the board and iron upstairs, and and….” I moaned with pleasure when I put them on. The soft, smooth fabric felt so good against my skin.
The big win of the week was lunch. All too frequently, I eat to fuel to get back to work. But this week I indulged in the good stuff. I splurged on “expensive” jarred tuna and fresh veggies. Yum! And I dressed it with some balsamic vinegar, a gift from a friend who traveled to Italy—that I had been rationing. Seriously.

Before you judge me for using good stuff meant to be drizzled on strawberries, this bottle of divine vinegar has sat on my counter for months, never once touching a strawberry. So, yes, I’m enjoying it with my salad.
The Ah-Hahs: All these small pleasures felt so good. As I sit here reflecting on the week, I’m shaking my head, wondering why wouldn’t I treat myself like a treasured friend at every opportunity? I should, and to quote the great old L’Oreal campaign: Because I’m worth it.
