Nudged: Throw a Spontaneous Party
Today marks what would have been our 52nd Nudge of this round. But since we lost several weeks due to my Appendix Adventure and the Great Pause of 2022, we’ll keep going till we’ve really, truly done 52, on January 22.
Still, it feels appropriate that the Nudge I drew for this week calls for a celebration. Maybe I’ll bake up a batch of festive cookies and invite the neighbors over for a bit of holiday cheer. Maybe I’ll organize a reunion of friends for virtual cocktails and catching up.
I’d love to hear how you nudge yourself. Please share in Comments.
Cheers!
What Happened: Had big plans, ran out of steam. Seems like that’s a theme for the season, doesn’t it? “This will be the year we pull out ALL the decorations! We’ll accept every party invitation! I’ll bake gifts for everyone!”
Around the time I threw in the towel with the baking mini cranberry breads for everyone (and picked up gift cards), I came to terms with the fact that I didn’t have it in me to coordinate another anything.
So, here’s to a party of one!
The Ah-Hahs: You’d think I’d learned my lesson this year about making plans. So many things went awry this year, and I have gotten better about going with the flow and living in the moment. This week was a perfect example. I can be disappointed with myself for not getting friends and family together for an EVENT, or I can celebrate the fact that I, indeed, completed this Nudge with a lovely gesture of self-love. Cheers to me!
P.S. We’re wrapping up round 3 of Nudges, and before we launch round 4, I’m going to take a break. Ahead of all that, I’d love a couple of things from you:
- What have been some of your favorite Nudges? (I will choose some from the archives to re-run in the in-between.)
- What Nudges would you like to repeat in the next round?
- Any Nudges on your list you’d love to see done with the group here?
On that last one, I’m also looking for Guest Nudgers. If you’re interested, email me at info@52Nudges.com.
