Nudged: Polish something
Lots of possibilities for this week: furniture, a family heirloom, my rèsumé, a skill?
What needs a little extra attention and appreciation?
What Happened: I’m forever adding “clear off dining room table” to my to-do list. It’s our catch-all place for recipe books and mail and pots that need to full dry before they go in the cupboard and ongoing projects and….
Among the many items that have sat there for days/weeks/months is a beautiful cake knife I received as a wedding present from a dear family friend. I had pulled it out the last time I served a cake, back around…Christmas? Yikes. But I didn’t even use it because it was so badly in need of–you guessed it–polishing.
This week it got some TLC. While I polished, I thought about the person who had given it to me and offered up a prayer of thanks that she had been in my life.
And as long as the polishing kit was out, I cleaned off my favorite key ring. I bought this for myself 30+ years ago, as a way to manifest one day having a home. Another prayer of thanks, for my life today.
The Ah-Hahs: Sometimes Nudges are quick and simple, like this week’s. I’m pleased with myself for taking things a bit deeper. This was also a time to appreciate, take care of, and enjoy my treasures.
Now I’m going to open one of the cookbooks on that table and pick out a cake recipe! 😉
