Nudged: Mail a Handwritten note/letter
This Nudge appears in every round, mostly because it gives me such pleasure. I love the feel of good pen on good paper. I love sharing stories and memories. I love pretty stamps and wax seals.
And I know folks in my life, especially friends and family members in older generations, who appreciate getting something other than bills and junk in their mailboxes. One small Nudge to brighten their day as well.
This is one item on this week’s to-do list that I definitely look forward to doing.
What Happened: I thought this would be a one-and-done. Instead, I let it run on for a few days. When someone popped into my mind, instead of dashing off a text message, I wrote a quick note. “Thinking of you!” was the primary message. “Thankful for our friendship!” was another. When I had a small stack, I stamped and sealed and took myself out for a short walk to pop them into the big blue mailbox down the street.
The Ah-Hahs: My days are pretty packed with client work, home care, dog care…. Even my “breaks” are often filled with necessary errands and returning phone calls (to schedule client work, home care, dog care…). This week it was nice to pause for a few minutes and spend a little time connecting with friends and family members through these notes. It was calming.
I’m good about writing and sending notes regularly. I’m pleased I took time this week to enjoy the practice.
