Nudged: Go to a “special” park
I had to look back at my notes to remember why I’d put “special” in quotes. Ah, yes, this is a reminder to treat myself to places I don’t get to often, like the botanic gardens, Shakespeare garden, AIDS Memorial Grove, and Spreckels Lake. I live a short drive from Golden Gate Park, so there is an abundance of beauty available to me. I just don’t get there very often because most days I’m at dog parks.
This outing is for me.
(For a moment, I thought I meant “amusement” park, like Disneyland or Harry Potter World at Universal. That would be quite outside the 52Nudges budget of $20. But, hey, if you can make it happen for yourself, go for it!)
What Happened: I couldn’t bring myself to get in the car. I didn’t want to make the extra effort. But as I looked out at a fantastically clear and beautiful day, I knew I wanted to get out. And there, at the edge of my view, was a park that called to me. Twenty minutes later, after an invigorating climb up a steep hill, I took in the sights from a sweet little park that looks out over my own neighborhood.
The Ah-Hahs: Clean air, blue skies, breathtaking views. I’m glad I took advantage of this glorious day. This was a lovely reminder of what I have available to me just outside my front door!
