Nudged: Book a midweek lunch with Thor
Back in the day, especially in the early years of our relationship, I used to meet Thor (my darling husband) for lunch near his office once a quarter. I’d arrive early, observe him at work, meet new members of his staff, and make sure we both slowed down and actually ate during our breaks.
COVID, of course, shut that all down, even though he went into work every day as the rest of us sheltered in place. Now that things are normal-ish and restaurants are fully open again, I’d love to resume this tradition.
Maybe this is the week you reconnect with a sibling, close friend, mentor, or mentee. Maybe this is the week you treat your best friend—you—to lunch at a special place.
What Happened: I issued the invitation midweek, but as of this posting, we have yet to “Book” a date. The intention and the desire are there, it’s just…we’re both busy.
The Ah-Hahs: …and that’s exactly why this is such an important Nudge! We must make time to treat ourselves, to enjoy the fruits of our labors. We must dedicate time to being in the company of our loved ones. It’s all too easy to slip into the groove of working through lunch, sharing yet another hour with a computer screen. Life is too short!
If you succeeded with this Nudge, well done! If you, like me, need to wrap it up, let’s get it done. And let’s make a note in our “datebooks” to do this again in a couple of months.
To my Nudgers who celebrate, I wish you a Happy Passover (Chag Sameach!), or blessed Good Friday and Easter.
