Nudging + Nudged: Host a home tasting
When I pulled this week’s Nudge, my first thought was “FREE PASS!” As luck would have it, Thor and I hosted a port tasting dinner party not long ago (that was a huge success), featuring ports of various ages and treats for pairing. A bit outside the $20 limit for nudges, btw, and totally worth it.
The idea behind this nudge is to have fun trying new things. You might see if you can tell the difference between organic and nonorganic berries, or try an array of mustards to figure out which one tastes best on a hot dog, or decide for yourself if butter is better if it comes from France or Ireland. Many years ago my then-young nephews came over for a sleepover and we did a blind chocolate chip tasting. We discussed sweetness, texture, overall meltiness, then we made cookies with our top pick. Super fun!
There’s no right or wrong choice. It’s all about determining what you like best–and maybe surprising yourself with the results.
Anyway, I was all set to check this off the list and take a break, until I took a look at a few of the gifts I’ve received recently from friends and clients:
A tea advent calendar, a collection of bite-sized chocolates from around the world, and sample sizes of Ceybon AF (alcohol-free) cocktails! So, instead of taking a pass, Thor and I are going to indulge in THREE fabulous tasting experiences!
I am going to give myself a holiday from posting the What Happened and The Ah-Hahs because I already know how much fun this is going to be. If you discover something new and amazing, I hope you’ll share in the Comments.
P.S. To those who celebrate today’s holiday, I wish you a very merry Christmas! xoxo
