52+: A special book of poetry just released by guest nudger ek bayer
I get so excited when I see people achieve their long-held creative dreams, and so it is my pleasure to share with you the release of Courting Crow: a reflection on aging in an age of absurdity by ek bayer.
That name may be familiar to you, because ek bayer has treated us to two guest posts in the past: “Croned” in 2019, on her reflections on turning 50, and “Nudged” in 2022, in which she encourages us to pick Nudges that scare us.
I was given the privilege of reading an pre-release copy of the book, and here is my full and official 5-star review:
Take your time with this beautiful collection of contemporary poems. It reads like a memoir—which it is, I think—with each section and poem inspiring deep reflections on the life experiences and hard-earned wisdom of women of a certain age.
I recognize myself in Bayer’s poems, as she so eloquently expresses truths about our experiences of aging. She weaves in themes of love, grief, and courage, and I find myself feeling a new awareness and appreciation for all that I have endured and learned and shared.
This book would be a thoughtful gift for the great women in our lives—and for ourselves.
TW: There are many poems on motherhood, pregnancy, and raising children, so my friends who are still dancing with the losses from being CNBC may want to wait to read this.
Courting Crow by ek bayer is available in paperback. Order your copy at lulu.com.
