52+: Never never never give up
Had kind of a rough day yesterday. Pretty big career letdown. I was sitting in my office, head in hands, asking the Universe Why? What do you want from me? What am I supposed to be doing with my life?!
A long walk, a long talk with a supportive friend, and I came back to what I know in my heart: This must mean something better is coming.
Okay, then. But please reveal it soon.
This morning Katie Couric’s newsletter was in my inbox, with the header “Books That Will Change Your Life.” I started scrolling through the list: Maya Angelou, Barbara Kingsolver, Amor Towles, Thoreau, the Dalai Lama….and there it was.
My book, The Mother of All Dilemmas.
My story.
My life.
Check out Katie’s list of “37 Life-Changing Books You Won’t Be Able to Put Down” here.
And the next time you’re feeling like you’re ready to give up on yourself, nudge yourself and remember my story. Something better is coming.

This is so amazing and so well-deserved!! On your dark days, take this out and read it again and again. Your book means something to a lot of people. Your story means something to a lot of people. What you put out in the world had — and continues to have — an impact on people you’ve never met in places you’ve never been. That’s an incredible thing! So proud of you!
