Nudged: FaceTime with a kid in my life
Back in October 2022, we Nudged ourselves to “FaceTime with a faraway friend.” Similar goal here: make an effort to keep in touch.
Do have some topics of conversation in mind, especially if you’re talking to a young person who answers in monosyllables. (“How are you?” “Fine.” “What did you do today?” “Stuff.”) If you’re seeing a really young youngster, maybe plan to read them a story or sing songs together or tell silly jokes.
What Happened: Got word that one of my little loves was home with a bad cold, so I got to make the call in the middle of the day. It made for a welcomed break from the other big tasks on my to-do list.
With the help of Louie, my faithful furry sidekick, I made the call and spent several minutes lifting someone’s spirits–and my own. We also talked about books, movies, and other topics we might follow up on in a future FaceTime (fingers crossed).
The Ah-Hahs: No big life lesson this week. Just happy to have had the time to nurture a relationship that is very dear to me.
Who did you call?
P.S. This Sunday–three days from now!–I’ll be sharing our last Nudge of round #3. Can you believe it? I plan to take a few weeks to put together my list of new Nudges for round #4, and I need your input! Was there a Nudge in this last round that you’d like to try again? Is there a Nudge on your own list you think would inspire and motivate other Nudgers? Please share in Comments, or get in touch via email or on Instagram. I’m open to all suggestions (though please keep in mind The Rules for Nudges: can be done in one week, must cost $20 or less, must be somewhat uncomfortable, hopefully is fun). Thank you!
