Nudged: Book 4 walks (or hikes) with 4 friends
This Nudge is designed to get me to do two things I love doing: exercise outside and share some one-on-one time with good friends.
These past couple of years my walks have been mostly solo and mostly along the same routes. This week I’m going to motivate myself to break up those routines.
Honestly, I need something to look forward to. Knowing I’m going to meet up with someone special and share some special time with them warms my heart.
Not your thing? Maybe this is the week you book four coffee dates, or four online cocktail hours with different friends. Maybe this is the week you block out four “Me Time” sessions for quiet time with your best friend: your self.
What Happened: I thought this Nudge would be sooo easy: four text messages and done! Then I read it again: Not “Invite,” but “Book.” Hmmm…this was going to take a little more hustle on my part. I looked at my “Favorites” in my phone, contacted seven, and as of this morning booked four walks! (With hopes the other three people will get back to me soon.)
In the meantime, I was motivated to take my personal walks to the next level with some stair training, starting with this staircase that leads to a nearby park. Bear (the puppy) and I usually head straight to the jogging path and grassy field, but this week we took advantage of this lovely entryway.
The Ah-Hahs: With each confirmation, I got a feeling of excited anticipation. I sense this is what this Nudge is really about for me: Thinking about what feeds my body and soul, coming up with a plan to make it happen, actually scheduling it, and giving myself something to look forward to.
How’d you do with this week’s Nudge? Please share in Comments.
